Adwords and the fold

More sites would be above it.

It just occurred to me that on a 600X800 screen having the adwords on the right would cause the amount of pages to show up without scrolling to be reduced on pages with adwords.
Turns out all pages are set up with room for adwords on the right. Less pages above the fold. Just another way to make money.

As an interesting aside I was astounded to find only one adword and sponsored link searching for windows and one for xp and four for windows xp. Complete coincidence. I was thinking of something to search for that would have a lot of adwords on the right and windows came to mind (thinking glass, not ms, go figure)

Ya, it's a liquid layout.

Another tid bit: at 256 colors on my laptop, premium links background are clear (the pastel gets dithered away to white). You can't tell they are ads and the "sponsored" links, looks like it's over the adwords boxes.

Affiliate links? I never noticed this before on a adwords click through:

www.google.com/url?q=http://ad.doubleclick.net/clk%3zzz%3Bd%3Fhttp...final url here.

That's a click through double click and then onward to the final real advertiser. What's up with that?

Powdork,

My guess is for the terms you mentioned it is very hard to meet the .5% clickthrough minimum.

yep... i always use a laptop. On my 1024 wide 16 bit color machine,

Ive never been able to see the diff colors on adwords unless I sit on the floor and look upwards at it. So they may be upsetting the FCC, if only those guys would use my laptop...

Ya, it's a liquid layout.

But not a very clean one. Everything's neat and tidy except for the description which is allowed to run on.

Ive never been able to see the diff colors on adwords unless I sit on the floor and look upwards at it. So they may be upsetting the FCC, if only those guys would use my laptop...

sorry i meant i coudlnt see the pastel colors on **sponsored** listings...

Mind you I never realised that brett has a subtle pastel shade backgound on the "quotes" box, until i fell off my chair once laughing at RC jordan's response to a poster who seemed to be ignoring his helpful reponse posts - "...Are you related to my wife?..."

The FCC can buy my computer off me. I need a new one!

one adword and sponsored link searching for windows and one for xp and four for windows xp.

Keywords like "windows" and "XP" don't stand a chance thanks to the CTR limit. They are too generalized.
