Just noticed in one of my campaigns that I was getting charged well above my max CPC. I have about 25 campaigns and all the others work fine. Seems like adwords might have a bug. I checked all the keywords and I did not have any modifiers. i.e. **.XX** so I can only assume it is a glitch. I have notified google and will report back, but I am interested to hear if I am alone on this.

mansterfred, I've worked with many an advertiser with this same question.

So far, in every case the answer was either that:

* The advertiser was looking at a date range that included a time when the Max CPC was in fact higher. So the average CPC, (which is an average over the entire date range) may well show as higher than the current setting.

* The keyword in question has an individual Max CPC that is higher than the default Max CPC for the Ad Group.

Hope this solves it.

No, I checked the keywords and date range many times as it just seemed off. I had lowered the CPC earlier in the week and the lower CPC rate showed, but the charges in the current day were higher.
Today that campaign is running fine, but the past week was buggy. I assume that the change did not take effect even though it showed the new rate. Could be some corruption in the code in that campaign.
