After reading here about the English ads showing up on Japanese searches I decided to review our setup on one of our campaigns.

We edited both languages and countries but did not change the actual ads. We are no where near our budget. When I check a few of our terms from the toolbar I was surprised to find all of our ads missing. The country and languages from where we are located are both chosen.

I've filed a support ticket asking why but am I missing something?

Here's what I've found out and done.

I've returned the language setting back to "all languages" where it was before I started.

The country settings are set for those countries I want the ad to appear in including where I am located.

I've checked Google.com in the USA through a proxy and the ads I checked were there.

Google.co.uk has some ads but not others.

Same with Google.de.

From the tool bar (set to google.com) locally no ads are showing.

Help..

OK, so I panicked.

Everything appears to have returned to normal however this leaves a very interesting question.

I have an English language ad however my clients can come from literally any country in the world. Those that tend to visit our area generally speak English although they may be from Germany, Norway, the UK, etc. (attempt at humour there). When I went to the language choices I selected the main languages that I knew people searching for our area can also mostly speak English.

Therefore the question is although Google has in small print that the ad must be in the language chosen they give us an "all languages" option. What does this mean? Can I choose German, Dutch, Spanish, etc, and leave out Japanese and Chinese? I find it very confusing.

They've all disappeared again.

They still haven't answered my inquiry from yesterday.

They've been appearing and diappearing every few hours since last night.

It's not a budget issue. We've never come close to the budget set.

Is anyone else having problems?

We've got all sorts of ads disappearing and returning. I just now tried to get in and make some changes and couldn't get in. Don't have any additional info for you, you described what I'm seeing.

Thanks Tom,

I've just been in a panic trying to figure out what was going on.

We haven't changed any ads in weeks, but today our traffic was around half of usual. When I tried some of our more important keywords at both www.google.com and www2.google.com neither one was showing our ad. Although for some keywords our ad was appearing. I dropped them a note but so far no response.

Just received an explanation from Google that our daily budget has not been set high enough. This must be as a result of the new expanded broad matching. They say they are not showing our ads for all searches and that we should DOUBLE our budget. As we have never gotten near the old budget this makes me very nervous.

I've just now been able to get to the management center so I'll change it and see what happens.

Added - just went to the "recommended budget" and it says "budget OK". Doubled it anyway however still no ads.

Have sent a response to support. There has to be another problem.

I have quintupled our budget earlier today (even though we never come anywhere near using the original budget), but our missing ads are still not appearing.

Have you checked that they've not been RELEGATED to the second page?

I am really at a loss as to what to do. Almost all of our ads are on terms where there are only 2 or 3 other adveritsers. In many cases we are the only one.

I have checked .co.uk, .com, .co.ve, .ca and the usa through a proxy - no search ads now for almost 24 hours (they are appearing in some content pages).

I have sent a total of 4 e-mails to support - they have answered one (yesterday) telling me my budget wasn't high enough. When we checked the budget tool it said "OK" but we went ahead and doubled the budget anyway - no ads.

I just had a brainwave that maybe the minimum bids had been increased however when I used the bid tool it showed that I would receive 50+ clicks for one term at the current bid price where in the last 24 hours we have received none. When I doubled the bid amount it didn't change the number of clicks so that's not it.

It's gotta be a glitch. If this gets fixed I'll never make another change again.

If AdWords Advisor is around I'd be happy to post the support ticket # so he could check it out.

We've had this campaign since Feb. 02 with few changes and great results. Our business is dependent on this program for much of our income.

If anybody else has any other suggestions about how to rectify this problem I'm all ears. I'm even at the point of creating a whole new campaign and starting over but that would be a ton of work.

Thought everyone might want to check out another thread [webmasterworld.com] I just started. It seems many of our problems are being caused by a bug in the Adwords system.

My ads are all back up without neg. keywords which amounted to more than 300 for each keyword. As they forced me to double my budget at least they won't go off line for lack of funds.

They may however now go off line for lack of a high enough CTR. Wow, do I need these problems on a Friday?

The ads that have disappeared are all top position ads, usually 1.0 or higher position. We haven't changed bids. I believe the problem is the reported negative keyword bug since it is mainly our adgroups that use a lot of negative keywords that are being affected.

If anyone gets more details on this bug, and its estimated time to be fixed, please post.

I am getting a little disappointed that I've still heard nothing from Google support about this problem after sending 4 e-mails and if it weren't for WW I'd still be off-line. I expected more!

It seems that if you made too much change to your ads during the weekend, your ads will stop showing until next Monday.

It seems that if you made too much change to your ads during the weekend, your ads will stop showing until next Monday.

It's possible that if a change was made that red flagged your account then it might be held up for human review on Monday.

There was some discussion in another thread that unscrupulous advertisers were throwing things in on weekends to avaoid being immediately taken out. It looks like Google may now have addressed this problem.

The original problem in this thread was caused by the negative keyword glitch that has now been corrected.
