Identify Affiliate Status notification from Google!

I would identify it, but we are not an affiliate or a distributor

Some of my ads have been stopped - subj. The strange thing that we are not a affiliate, and I have no idea why one would think we are an affiliate or a distributor.

Of course I have emailed google and waiting for their response now, but I'm afraid I'll get another canned response that has very little in common with the situation

so, has anybody had a similar problem? why would someone at google decide that an advertiser is an affiliate if a simple plain e-commerce web-shop is advertised (no redirects or anything else like this)? what do I do if I get another inadequate canned response? I believe their customer service phone is 1-800-2google, how do I dial it using numerals only? I'm gonna call from abroad and this thing with words in the phone numbers doesn't seem to work here

thank you!

Don't worry - I don't think you will get a canned response this time. If your destination URL has something like refID=blah_blah or something remotely similar, AdWords editors may mistakenly assume that it is an affiliate ID.

When I was a kid, I was always wondering why these americans have alphabets in their phone numbers ;)
Then I got a cell phone with both numerals & alphabet keys.

You can use [phonespell.org...] to find out the numerals by entering the alphabets. Type in GOOGLE to get the full number.

Businesses use stunts like that because phone numbers in a alphabets/word form are easier to remember than numbers.

By the way, I think that is a 1-866 number.

Thanks vibgyor79,

we do have this?source=adwords&ad=red_widgets string

oh, and there is a UID=6ThjgTu667gJT string when a user switches from one language to another, the different language versions are on different subdomains like eng.domain.com, fr.domain.com, de.domain.com, so we use this in the urls to track the visitor when we moves from one subdomain to another, but this UID= string is not used in google ads

thanks for the link to phonespell.org, I've been looking for something like this

Advertising a URL that is at a different domain to the email address registered against your AdWords account can also trigger the "you must be an affiliate" assumption. Bless 'em.
