Excite.com now showing Google adwords in SERPs

excite is showing adwords - without marking them as ads - in their serps

Surprised me this morning when I checked my log files to see Excite. However, what I didn't understand was where the results were coming from...so when I went to look, it surprised me to see a listing that *looked* like regular search results, but when I found my listing, it was Google Adwords.

Very strange. This makes two Infospace portals they have in the bag now.

Is anybody else getting a lot of these referrals?

Interesting news, Jeremy.

I still get Overture results on excite UK (labelled as sponsored links) and excite.com (not labelled as sponsored links). That's when searching both from a UK IP.

The one I found was about #6 or so in the SERP itself. That's what surpised me, since I expected to see it labeled ...and not appearing as a regular result.

This is from a California IP in the USA :)

<added> Just noticed, when you refresh, you will get different results. The way to tell if it's a google adwords link, you will see this when you put the cursor on the link:
area=srch.comm.google_paid&shape=textlink

Wow, you are right. I checked a couple of adwords and they appear on excite just as you say, mixed in with the overture results. Good news...

However I wonder if this will destroy our CTR (or at least lower it), which is important for adwords... A #1-3 ranked adword probably comes in anywhere from #5-15 on excite, and a CTR on a #15 isn't very good.

Hmm thats a good point. I have a #2 spot on adwords becuase of a high CTR (7%). It is sitting down at #12 on excite. Will this affect my CTR for my adwords and lower my rank? Anyone got any ideas? GoogleGuy?
