So we all know that Overture has booted Google off Freeserve but what database are Overture using on Freeserve beyond their PPC results.

Is it Inktomi on a UK filter or is it All the Web.

Any ideas.

As webdiversity said...

Overture are using FAST for the backfill on Freeserve without the UK filter that Lycos use - possibly used because of their strength in European search (and mainly that before the Yahoo purchase FAST was the preferred backfill for sponsored link distribution deals, as this deal was done several months ago).

It may well have been Inktomi had the deal been done now...

Provider issues aside. I for one am happy with the results provided by the freeserve search. I have become a little disillusioned with the results I was getting from Google.

Of course everyone expects their sites to perform well, but when you have sites faring worse than sites that have no keyword relevance or even a high PR it does make you wonder.

Anyway my sites appear where I expect them to on the freeserve search which is more than I cansay for Google or Altavista.
So keep up the good work!
