but the weather has to be an especially big factor this year - i think yesterday was the first day i didn't log on to the internet at home for about a year - i was in the garden
In general, the B2C trend should be up, although there are bound to be seasonal effects.
This hot spell is taking people out of their houses and to the beach and countryside. Couple that with the school holidays until September and it's likely to be quieter.
Most of the main holiday bookings will be finished for this period, however, there are bound to be last minute bookers. The hot weather is making many late bookers consider UK breaks so we've seen increases on some parts of the B2C.
B2B is way down for a number of reasons. Holidays for sure are having an effect, but combined with the slowdown in the economy it has hit some sites quite badly.
Currently, i'm focusing on B2C for the Christmas spend and B2B for the last quarter spend before the Christmas shutdown.
I'm also looking at longer term issues such as balancing out traffic troughs by other approaches. There are still the same number of people about, it's just that they may react differently at different times.
I have been sat at my computer lately with the sweat dripping off me despite strategically placed fans so I am not suprised that people are not doing it for fun. Come the evenings its cooler outside than in.....
I guess its time to build up the content and look forward to the autumn rush :)
Our UK directory which is some 3 1/2 years old saw no obvious change in visitors during July and August, however compared with the same 2 months last year, we are 600% up on traffic.
