Hi

Our website is currently in DMOZ & Yahoo! directories. I'd like to get into other UK directories - sorry if this has been done before - what would be the next say 3-5 UK directories worth being in say for Google PR?

Your best bet is the tie this in with your industry/market - common terms for each + directory and/or directories in Google. Also helpful to add "add url", "submit url", or site, or page which will help bring the open directories to the top.

You will be far more productive this way - and likely get directories that actually send you visitors since the target is more defined.

e.g.

Market specific - "sport fishing"+directory+"submit url"

Industry - fishing+directories+"add url"

Or any combination of the above

That's a tough one because there are not too many big UK-specific general directories.

Of the other directories, you might want to look at:
JoeAnt
GoGuides

The other approach is to look for industry-specifc directories as they will often provide better results than a small, catch-all directory.

Expect to pay a review or entry fee for many of the smaller and specialised directories.

One way to establish the value of the directory is to look at some of the other listings in your chosen area of interest and contact the webmaster. Ask them if they find it worthwhile for a listing.

If you've got the Google toolbar installed, look to see if there is any pagerank indicated, although it will not always provide you a "value."

Strive for quality over quantity.
