Which UK PPC & PFI Listing Give ROI?

We've bashed too many minor listings, lets give the ones that work exposure

Following the recent threads, asking are listings with <insert Company X here> worthwhile, and our recent charter change [webmasterworld.com] stating that discussions should be kept factual and objective. Lets have a look at which UK PPC and PFI listings are providing a return on investment.

At the moment in PPC, I think that we can all say that Google Adwords, Overture and ESpotting are providing good ROI when the campaign is refined properly.

For PFI I'm seeing a really good return on Looksmart UK listings when I get a good LS description targetted at the right keyword set.

Other PFI I'm seeing a return on is the $35 listing at JoeAnt, but only for certain sites. Traffic is low but steady.

So where else can we get a good ROI?

Lets keep this discussion positive and keep away from repeating "I'm not seeing an ROI from Company X" when someone else says they are.

JoeAnt?

I hadn't heard of it before - does this generate good uk traffic?

I'd agree with the other three.

AJ/Teoma seems to work quite well on some B2C areas.

I agree with makemetop as PFI via Teoma continues to provide slow but steady traffic.

PFI through Inktomi is an obvious choice and one that continues to be an extremely worthwhile investment for our sites. Traffic drive is naturally mostly via MSN but this figure is on a par with Google referrers.

I've no experience with paying for inclusion in Looksmart, but the results for non-commercial sites submitted via Zeal have been a nice surprise - although in my experience the categories aimed at haven't been particularly competitive which might taint things a little.

Last but not least, our experience of PFI through AllTheWeb hasn't been the great experience we'd hoped for up to this point. Referrals are few and far between with most of those coming through Lycos. It's a shame because I genuinely believe that AllTheWeb is a fantastic search tool that would do incredibly well, should Joe Public start to use it a little. For that reason though, I'll continue to use the PFI service and will hope (as with Teoma) that it will reach critical mass and take off as a serious competitor to G.

That's my 2 penneth on the PFI front anyway. As PPC isn't something I've had much (mor much see any) experience with - I'll leave that one alone.

I'd back up what Rich B says there - well worth investing in some Inktomi pages. I do so via Positiontech (although I think you may be able to use other Inktomi partners - you certainly could at one point).

I think one big advantage is that Inktomi is very easy to optimise for, so you can get good rankings in MSN with fairly minimal effort.
