[uksearchpages.co.uk...]

This search engine appears to be quite actively spidering at the moment.

Results seem to be pretty good, although layout and design could do with some improvement.

Is anyone seeing any traffic from them?

Domain Name:
uksearchpages.co.uk

Registrant:
Linkswap

Registrant's Agent:
Axamba Limited t/a Web Tapestry Limited [Tag = WEBTAPESTRY]

A search engine owned by a company called LinkSwap frightens me mate.

The uksearchpages.co.uk looks fairly comprehensive. There are some fundamental SE operator errors though. It seems to be an advertiser supported SE. I am not sure which SE software they are using but I would guess Mnogosearch. Interestingly they are using the .uk extension as the filter to decide what is a UK site. If they can pull it off, it could be viable but building market share, especially against Google/MSN/Yahoo is going to be difficult. The Linkswap aspect seems to be the site advertising operation which is probably the way that they intend to make money.

Nice find Shak, it certainly worries me somewhat too.

On the other hand they are actively spidering, as I discovered them via log analysis.

It also doesn't surprise me that a company who have a knowledge of SEO techniques would be interested in building an SE.

Not bad, search for " !" and it puts some <b> tags in your query for you ;)

If it ever becomes popular a few 'unusual' characters gives out unusual information. In fact, searching for "b" gives out an internal server error.

I guess after tweaking and some visitation these problems will sort out themselves :) It found my town, so I'm fairly happy with it.

Its looks to me like they pointed their spider at a load of directories and haven't finished spidering the links they found there.

I am seeing a load of other directory pages in their SERPS.

Early days, but worth watching.

Web Tapestry is a web design company, who always seem to advertise in the internet magazines in the UK.

Does make you wonder where they get the claim to be number UK only search engine.

Anyone who looks to claim to be number one UK only search needs to provide proof that they beat Mirago. I dont see this yet.
