hi,

does anyone else notice that when using a bog standard personal firewall (in my case norton) i am unable to use msn.co.uk search. it obviously can't determine where i came from and defaults me back to the home page every time i try to search.

i wonder how many others are therefore unable to use msn.co.uk.

p.s. i have absolutely standard settings on the firewall.

You should see what the firewall is blocking in terms of traffic. You should be able to determine the IP and Port that blocks the MSN site.

(see also [webmasterworld.com...] which may have some bearing on what you are seeing)

cheers ian,

will investigate. although i have been having this problem for 18 months, so i don't think the problem in the other post is the same.

i just found it interesting that msn.co.uk seems to be blocking everyone who does not give a valid referrer - i.e. everyone with a personal firewall.

we don't get much hits from them anyway, but that can't be doing them any good ;)
