Not sure where they keep getting all these stats from!

I wonder how many people were contacted for this study...

Makes a certain amount of sense to me. The UK isn't cheap place to live if you're skint. All of the people I know on a low income don't have Internet access.

Nothing at all in the UK? No phone charges, no subscription? Do tell.

Crazy_Fool That's because they don't need a computer they access the internet from their WAP cell phones :)

You have just perfectly summed up the stereotypical British council house dweller, they have no desire to work let alone educate themselves enough to use a computer.

Believe me I work in the centre of these people, there intellect usually stretches no further than a PS2

It works the same way here in Italy. But, since you have to pay for the phone call (on a per second basis), it is not going to be any cheaper than the regular subscription with a flat rate phone call.

Here's one way to do that. Use the free terminals that many public libraries provide.

It's not 24 hour, there's no coffee, and there may be a wait, but it is broadband or faster.

Afraid NTL seem to have stopped the offer for newcomers. It's now £ 10 a month or, if you are in a cable area, broadband is 14.99.
