How does it work?

Hi there. I am a beginner to the world of searchengines - only been doing it for about a year. I have recently started to use Espotting for a couple of sites - going well so far.

My query is about Adwords - does it really work for the UK market? Can someone give a basic overview of how it works compared to Espotting (most noticable difference I can see is all bids in $ (?) and you can only give a top bid amount). The client I am looking into this for wants to optimise their site for appearance in main Google listings - is this a big job? So I am trying to find out about Adwords as an alternative for them.

Any help would be appriciated.

Cheers.

welcome to webmasterworld,

in answer to your questions:

(most noticable difference I can see is all bids in $ (?) and you can only give a top bid amount).

= You can CHOOSE currency that you want to play with!

The client I am looking into this for wants to optimise their site for appearance in main Google listings

= Google Adwords will NOT help rankings/optimastion on main Google listings!

Shak,

After reading many other entries, I understand that it will not help their 'normal' ranking within Google, however i am not confident that I can optimise their site for Google well, and give them good results for their money, and so am looking at AdWords as an alternative for them.

However, theres not as much info about Adwords on Google to read before signing up so I was just after a bit of 'real' information on the service from current users. Tips and tricks you might say!
