Why are my altavista listings lower than google and is there much you can do about it?

I'd be happy if I were you. Altavista brings much less traffic than Google- so being higher in Google should be a priority. If you then have lots of time, you can try to get higher in Altavista.

However- to get top listings in Altavista you could always utilise Overture ppc- and bid yourself to the top of your chosen keywords.

I do use overture and espotting for ppc listings but would rather rely on proper listings. The problem is a lot of the uk engines filter out my main site as it ends .info
It is extremely irritating but altavist don't do it so I keep an eye on their results. Are there any tips for improving them that are different from the Google requirements?

The traffic from Altavista is so low compared to Google that I no longer bother taking it into account for the on-page optimisation.

I'd hate to change any on-page stuff to suit Altavista and end up ruining my other listings as a result.

Still, maybe I am missing a trick here, is anyone else still targeting Altavista in its own right?
