Touch drop prices for Lycos adboxes banners

A cleint had them on last week trying to sell them at £500 a year.

Just got an email from them launching the same product under a different name but at £199 a year per keyword.

The catch is you have to take 3 keywords.

Anyone think lycos.co.uk is worth 199 a year for a adbox in the same sort of position adwords are?

I paid £900 for a banner on lycos from Touch last year. They promised that I would also show for other keywords similar to my own.

eg I bought "blue widgets"
they said I would show if someone typed in "heavy blue widgets" or "blue widgets for sale" etc.

I did, for about a month, now I don't. Lycos displays a competitor's banner there now.

Also, the click thru rate is diabolical.

They called me up recently trying to sell me a placing in the lycos directory - have you ever seen the lycos directory? has anyone?

IMO - approach with caution.

Peter this is exactly the problem. Touch change the goal posts all the time.

I too advise to avoid them like the plague.
