I've had a conversation with Mirago and thought this info might be useful.

For those that don't know, Mirago is one of the UK's well-established search services.

Like most search services, it is aiming to improve its offering. It has a new beta programme and I thought WebmasterWorld members might like to participate to help shape the service.

Background info on the robot. Their (relatively) new robot [webmasterworld.com] (ExperimetalHenryTheMiragoRobot) has been traversing sites last year and is part of its "Q3" technology.

Their new "Q3" search technology is available online now at beta.mirago.co.uk [beta.mirago.co.uk] so why not provide them with feedback.

There are five different configurations available to try from the beta site, with the live site option being the default on the main Mirago site. [mirago.co.uk]

Try the results from each of the configuration options.

Thats a great improvement.

The 'regional' search is a very nice touch, although not that accurate at the moment (how are they filtering for this?).

The test configurations are nice to play with too.

Config 4 works best for me (makes more of my sites top - but then most of them are clean and on topic, honest:)

The regional search is really nice and is the first time I have seen this kind of technology, it looks like Mirago are way ahead of any competition on regionalising search.

They could have a great product here.

On the downside they are still a little backward on the Geo-filtering of .com domains. I would like to see the UK .coms included in the regional search this would give much better results as many of the bigger organisations would also show up in the results.

(Personally I preferred alternate set 2 but again it seems to favour my sites)

This looks good now. Is there anywhere I can report spam to?

hehehe - I'd suggest you send it to their address on the beta site.
