i have a .com with a uk address that gets geo-filtered out by google.co.uk because its hosted in the u.s(its included in lycos.co.uk and alta-uk though)
So besides from the hassle and problem of finding a uk host thats affordable(without u.s based servers)and therefore one located in the uk with a uk ip,what is the best time to do the changeover.
Alittle research tells me just after the dance/update at the beginning of the month.I have heard some horror stories so i would still leave both sites up until googlebot visits and show a refresh with perhaps a very slightly changes title to be on the safe side to confirm this.
any suggestions
and how long would you guess it would take before the site stops being filtered out of google.co.uk.
thanks
happy new year
and good luck in 2003 with all its challenges and changes.

I would look at moving following the major crawl that occurs after the update. Check that the bot has visited all your pages before moving your site.

Yes you will need to wait for the next full update at least, maybe even the one after that. It depends if the new IP address was identified by the freshbot.
