I've just managed to get our company website listed in Google.com. For the 4 main search phrases we have the numbers 1,2 or 3 spots. However, we don't show anywhere on the .co.uk search results for the same phrases. The domain i refer to is a .com but we also own the .co.uk domain which is currently not used.
My question is this:
What is the safest way to get a Google.co.uk ranking. Do I copy the whole site to the .co.uk domain and re submit. Do I copy just the index page to the .co.uk domain and link to the .com site. Or is there a better way?
Our customers are worldwide, but there is a significant number of potential customers in the UK [along with our main competitor] too.
Hope I have explained this clearly!
Thanks in advance.

.co.uk version will work in the uk search, but I wouldn't just copy your current .com page, it may be ignored. IMHO I would:
1) Create a new unique .co.uk index page, with a few extra pages to make the site more substantial and achieve more .co.uk indexable pages.
2) Get a few UK links pointing to this domain.
I will need to check if the site is UK hosted as this was all done by my boss.
The site has been registered in the ODP but has not yet been ranked. We are also listed in some on-line directories [Kelleys, Applegate etc.] and our listing in Applegate does appear in the search results on google.co.uk - unfortunately so does that of our main UK competitor.
I can see some advantages in having a more UK focused site, The biggest market for our products is the USA but they use different terminology, however, being a UK base company we do not want to miss our "home" market for obvious reasons. My main concern was that I did not want to lose our current ranking for inadvertently spamming.
I will give it some thought over Christmas - thanks for your help.
Merry Christmas to you all.
