Hi there

I wonder if anyone can offer me advice please.

I have a site which is ranked well on google.com and google.co.uk but I've just realised that on sites such as AOL uk and freeserve it is only equivalently listed on worldwide and not on uk.
I suspect this is because the domain ends .info and so these engines are not seeing it as a UK site.
Is there anything I can do?

Many thanks

Lisa

edneil,
I can tell you that .INFO is more popular in Europe as an alternative to .COM. Google knows you are in the UK by looking at the IP address your domain uses not the extension. So make sure you are hosted on a UK server and then you should be included in the .UK version of Google.

Thanks Lisa

I do get good results in the UK search of google.co.uk so am happy with that but can't understand why I get nowhere if you go to AOL or freeserve etc and do a uk sites search?

I've had problems with .info on other search engines:
[webmasterworld.com...]

It seems that many are filtering this out as if it was a foreign domain rather than international.

We are now advising all my customers targeting the UK to avoid any of the newer TLDs.

Afilias would hate to hear this. Hopefully this filter (where it is being used) will be short lived.
