BT LookSmart Adds Wisenut To Search Directory Service

BT Looksmart have annnounced that the WiseNut search index is the latest edition to the company's search directory service which combines human edited web listings from LookSmart and community site Zeal, with relevant paid for content from advertisers.

WiseNut uses a relevancy ranking system for its searches that measures both the relative importance of the pages it finds and then the relevance of the pages within a given search. Kevin Kerrigan, COO of BTLookSmart said,

"With WiseNut's next generation index, we will deliver one of the most comprehensive and technologically advanced search solutions available online today."

"Portals and ISPs using BTLookSmart search solutions will be able to harness the enhanced search capabilities of WiseNut - increasing the scale, quality and relevance of their search directory services."

"BTLookSmart will initially integrate the WiseNut index into the BT Openworld search solution."

Internet users searching for information will benefit from the introduction of the WiseNut technology.

WiseNut's 'WiseGuide' tool will provide users with suggestions about how to make the most effective search enquiries.

'WiseGuide' automatically generates categories contextually related to the words within WiseNut search queries, allowing users to specify terms that narrow their search results.

My listing is several months old.

Wisenut only crawled in Sept.............Looksmart have advised Wisenut will refresh its index every month beginning in Oct and even a shorter time frame in the months ahead.

It looks as though they are rolling out new servers to supply a quicker results search as well..

Don't know if anyone else is experiencing the same, but I'm getting server overload error messages. I notice wisenut is hosted on a Window 2000/IIS 5 platform which may have something to do with its performance issues ;)
I don't hold up much hope for the site as it is if BTLooksmart start driving more traffic through to it. Looks to me like their definitely going to need to chuck some more hardware in its direction.

Wisenut is pretty slow to me. Worthless results, but what else would you expect. ;)

I have excellent ranking for dozens of my pages with Wisenut; only so-so ranking in the Look$mart directory for just my index page, and they absolutely murdered my description.

Am I correct in thinking Look$smart will be the directory and Wisenut will handle the search, with various integrations similiar to the Yahoo/Google deal?
