When your wife leaves you for another man? :).

I think if you look at the engines it's a case of Google play down the size of it's index and FAST playing up theirs.

Google Index Size: 2,700,000,000
FAST Index Size: 1,046,787,537

Hmmm. I see a big difference.

FYI, I got that info at 14:45 GMT

Chris.

That depends if she is leaving you due to under or oversize I would suggest.

I'm tired of hearing how FAST "measures up", "compares" or otherwise is in the same league as google.

It's too early to tell how PFI will affect the SERP's, but every other engine engaging in the model is a spamhaus.

FAST is like a beautiful woman with bad breathe, nice to look at..but if you get too close...

If Fast bans 2/3 of the worlds servers they will never be able to compete with google.

UKGimp,
my girlfriend hasn't left me but oversize is causing an issue ;).

korkus2000,
completly agree.

How relevent is Overture or Ink. I believe Fast is more relevent than both but it is in the same club. Google has set the standard and it looks like noone can compete. People give Fast too much credit because they are the closest competitor for relevent SERPs. It is too costly for normal webmasters to have all of their pages included. This greatly lowers their ability to return relevent SERPs.

<rant>How relevent are ads? I don't want to wade through commercials when surfing and I don't think anyone else does. They want the most relevent pages. As the common man learns about what powers search engines I think we will see google or google like engines win out in the long run.</rant>

Maybe there is a good "in" for the BBC with BBCi.

They are never likely to go PFI or similar.
