They practically guaranteed me thousands of clicks for a keyword. Turns out they where using the overture search suggestion tool and quoting US figures for the plural word and not the singular that they where trying to sell me.
But's that OK. A supervisor told me they are launching in the US on Monday! and if I took out the keyword today they would register the name in the UK, Ireland, Holland (?) and the US and only charge me the UK (£349). What a bargain !
After doing a quick search on google I found this board and read a couple of the posts.
Thanks
Think I'll save myself £350 - and I might just hang around to see what else I pick up.

I think you made the right choice. You might also read this thread:

Seems to me they are selling something they don't actually possess yet - ie traffic.
It also seems to be a high price to pay for 'potential traffic' when you could get proven traffic, (ie a Yahoo UK and Looksmart UK review) for the same price.

Generalising: I always remember that the people that are calling me are only doing their job (as trained by their management). Sadly, the management work on the basis - in the land of the blind, the one-eyed is king. - no pun intended on 4eyes - clearly he really is the king. ;-)
j search are always phoning trying to pass off things with inflated prices that we can all get elsewhere...
Next day the paper Business AM exposed the truth. I think you can register for free at the online version of the paper to see the full story.
Shall I tip the paper off as to just how he is trying to make money ;)?

At the moment, I haven't heard of Jsearch contacting Irish site owners to try and sell them 'keywords'.
