Where ever I look i can't find a strait answer to what fast powers.

Does it power lycos.co.uk?

What is the lycos directory? is it just odp alias?

No it is their own. Having said that when they started it it bore a <cough>remarkable similarity</cough> to many ODP cats. If you look closely you will see that the two directories have quite a few editors in common. Research will pay off, look closely at the editors as with some you can get away a very keyword loaded listing.

Angus, the main body of results on Lycos.co.uk come from FAST.
So when you submit to Lycos PFI program, the paid pages are included to the FAST db and thus returned at Lycos web search.
