Since septmeber it has been proving very difficult to get in any of the following search engines.
Excite UK and COM
Lycos
Northernlight
AV UK
Go and Infoseek UK
and the inktomi clan of search engines.
I know about the problems with ink but it does appear to be taking a long time to be indexed in the other search engines.
Am I just being very impatient or are they incredibly slow at indexing at the moment.

Hi adam,

I've found indexing time for NL and AV UK to be a matter of days - perhaps 10 at the outside. Have you seen their spiders?

The others (Ink aside) are virtually out of it. There has bee a threat of Lycos updating, but i'm not sure it's more than US updates.

What about excite and go any ideas on those times.. back in July/August it used to be 6 to 8 weeks but it appears to be much more now..
Do you think Ink will ever get its act together or will it always be a load of old sites from March that have got in and will stay in???

Excite - intermittent. That's only what I've seen.
Sites have got into the db but have taken a while.
Excite does provide good traffic so it is worth the effort.

Ink - well - there's a thing.

They have either got to change to make the index "fresh" or get out of the business. I'd put it down to about 6-months maximum and it'll sort itself out. It's just got to the stage where the add url is "spammed out"

i'd recommend you build links from the pages that are in the index (I know they are getting re-visits) linking to your new sites. It won't do too much harm and may benefit your new sites.

Once in Ink, then we'll see if they stick. Importnat - if you do this, don'r resubmit with the add url. Be patient, watch the logs and wait.

report back any sitings of Ink spiders to new sites.
