I've never really got to the bottom of it and the guys from Netnames dont seem to appreciate (Read give a FourX) the SE implications.
Has anyone else seen this?
How do other domain forwarders work?
Why is that James Bond film on Again?
Did I really promise my wife I would clean out the shed tomorrow?
Any help appreciated (particularly with the shed) :):)
Drop me an e-mail with the url and I'll have a look at the problem.
I've forgotten the number of times those films have been on telly. Can't say I watch them, but, even if I haven't seen them, I won't have to wait long for a repeat.
I registered some domain names with freeparking and these work in exactly the same way. The same title is displayed for each page and the URL address remains unchanged as you browse through the site.
If netnames do the same as freeparking then you will find that typing in your domain name takes you to a very small page that quickly redirects to your own site (I think they call it domain name masking). If you are quick on the stop button you can sometimes catch it "mid-transfer" and view the source code for the page that does the re-direction. In my case that is where the title is obtained from.
When I contacted freeparking they didn't give a 4x either :) which is not particularly helpful but I guess at £10 per domain name they won't have the funds to run a large tech support team.
I'm not bothered by the fact that the title for each page may be wrong on a browser bar but I am bothered when a page comes up in a search that is out of a frameset and because of the "Domain name masking" you can't get it back in. I also cant understand why AV should list the "Home Page" description for another page. It may or may not be related.
