It is serving up results from looksmart UK under the heading "Quick Links", results from Overture (Goto) with the disclaimer "The first x search results below are provided by a third party", and finally results from its own DB.
Is this news, or am I woefully out of touch ?

Been quite a while since they changed, certainly get much less from the directory listings than before.

That is not surprising, those "quick links" don't exactly catch you in the eye do they. One less reason to shell out for a looksmart listing.
