Hello people does anyone know where I can get a list of local/regional sites from.
Sites like
oxfinder.co.uk
mkcitizen.co.uk etc etc.

Many thanks

Hi Adam, now, there's a challenge. I'd guess the lack of response suggests we don't know.

The "local" sites i've found have been mixed in their quality, with many being simply a small company chasing revenues from local firms. I have to question the "value" in some of these local sites.

You might like to try this [google.co.uk] search, if it helps.

Or, you might try this [directory.google.com] one.

I cannot vouch for the records.

I will start to compile one then! Which I don't mind sharing maybe if we all added to it over time, it could be a useful list to have.
Referrals are nothing to right home about but they are more targeted we are based in Oxford and get abou 25 referrals a month form all the Oxford ones we are listed in.

The only thing to bear in mind is that some are simply a front for nothing more than a financial trap for the unwary. Those that provide referals should move into division 1.

Glad you're getting some referrals - (Videoman will be around soon to check on that).

......just taking off my Lens Cap.
As predicted by Engine here I am with negative feedback on local directories.
I challenge anybody to come up with ONE that produces any business. No point in having no enquiries from 100 hits
In Essex I would think there are/have been up to 10 over the last two years - with the exception of This is Essex which is owned by a large Newpaper group and whose inclusion rates were stolen from Jim Davidson's stage act:), most have folded or are just not supported or used - so what is the point.

Additionally where are the B2B sites that produce anything?
Sure in my field there are specialist sites i.e Wedding Directories some of which are very active but I find that its the UK SE's that send me the extra net biz(Like a job just completed for Oxford University this week) .....but Yellow Pages that makes the phone ring. Every business has a different requirement and expectation but I have never understood the obsession with hits rather than enquiries and conversion ratios.

Our resident expert on local directories has spoken. ;)
I think Videoman is right on the money with that assessment, especially from a commercial point of view.

There are opportunities for local communities to have "community" websites, but, in most instances, IMO these draw enquiries for bed and breakfast and local attractions.

In my opinion, the only local (or niche market) directories that are worth using are those that consistently appear in the SERPS for your search phrases.
