Which search engines give you the best UK traffic?

Told you that my new job had some perks regarding access to market research...

Available on request via Stickymail or mail in profile.

This study, along with the recent figures from MMXI which place AskJeeves top and Google very well, both confirm that the UK users are not the same as the US users at all.

AskJeeves is a top performer in the stats for my current main project, but since I got great keywords with uk.goto and Espotting (both of which also go into askjeeves results) that is predictable.

Google however is close behind without any bonus from PPC listings, and when figuring the Yahoo-Google results as well becomes the best performing SE without PPC listings support.

I wonder how many off the Google users use .com or .uk? & I'm surprised freeserve is nowhere to be seen as it's definitely in my top ten of refers for my clients

I always view these sorts of figures as interesting trend indicators rather than concrete facts. This survey does confirm the trends shown elsewhere regarding the popularity of Ask Jeeves and Google however it seems to buck the trends in certain areas. More people in the UK use Infoseek than Freeserve - hmmm!!! I also just can't believe that 41.9% of people NEVER use MSN for a search. They may not use the MSN UK portal as a search area but the MSN figures according to my logs over more than 100 sites is way too low.

Interesting figures to add into the mix though. Thanks Ammon.

Tigger: Freeserve wasn't on the survey questions this time around. However, I too find it a good referrer for my UK.Goto keywords. It should be included on the next study (probably next quarter).

makemetop: As above, freeserve wasn't one of the options on this survey except as an 'Other', basically, if the SE was an option in the survey it appears on the table - even iWon which was the lowest scoring of all. The next survey should confirm it, but I think that Freeserve will rank somewhere close to AOL, maybe a little lower.
