LookSmart says "LookSmart is the largest selective directory on the Internet. Behind each site listing is an editor who has assessed the quality and relevance of the site in relation to its subject."
So why does it then deliver AV results? I there a pecking order?
How do you know if your "In" LS. Is it delivering much traffic??
.........and still nothing from Essex Pages :)
1 to 5 site matches for "xxxxxx" from "LookSmart Sites"
The main benefit from being in LS UK is that it used by msn UK and excite UK for their directory results.
Looksmart UK has listed 5 sites of mine, 4 of which I don't think I have ever submitted. Interestingly these 4 sites had previously been accepted and then rejected by the ODP.
I am just keeping my head down :)
If you are interested and have about an hour to spare, there is a long thread over at searchenginediscussions.com which discusses it.
The bottom line is the sites were in the ODP until a higher level editor decided they didn't like them and removed them.
I haven't given up hope of getting them back in the ODP, but at the moment I am concentrating on areas of promotion. In the meantime I am grateful for my Looksmart listings (where ever they came from) and am not going to do anything to jepardise them !
