I have a client site under a .co.uk domain which deals with an international market, and I was wondering if it is better to submit to Looksmarts' .co.uk paid submission service or the .com one? They seem to list from completely different indexes. If I submit to the .co.uk one will I get in the .com one as well?
Any info or experiences appreciated.
If your site is truly 'global' then I say apply to the dotcom directory for a non-regional listing, and additionally apply for a regional listing.
When apply to any directory with a non-dotcom domain name (e.g. your co.uk client), ensure that your site shows itself to be fully global in scope and focus. Make sure all contact details are written for the international market. (If phone numbers don't include the international dialing prefix many editors will class you as a 'local' business to your region).
Ensure that if delivery of goods is a concern to the business that the site addresses the international issues, such as who pays the delivery costs, and how soon the goods bought will be delivered to various countries.
Without those things, the site won't look fully 'international' but will instead look like a locally marketed site that just hopes to have some foreign sales. Its a question of focus.
A relative newcomer to the looksmart partners sub-program, i went with the regional uk option, not fully realizing then, the effects it is now having.
The problem i am facing now, is do i submit to the looksmart non regional, as i am starting to come up on looksmart-inktomi results, though not on looksmart.com listings - my site is in a niche international market and needs as much exposure as possible?
