Yes Mirago !! are now offering PPC on the top 3 listings only, at a bargan price of 10p min bid, well I think we'll be all queueing to get into that.

You would have thought someone would have looked at the market place to see what the big boys are doing especially considering our friends at goto for half that price show results on freeserve.

I'm not sure but do mirago offer any results on other SE's ? I don't think so

Hi Tigger,
Oh, what a shame. I agree with you entirely. 10p - far too much.
Mirago deliver results to ask.

Speaking of Ask.uk, have you noticed that aside from direct hit, it is now possible to have the search engine results sewn up by paying money.

Until recently ask used Altavista.uk which gave good results, then- as documented in this forum it changed to Yahoo which also gave free listings a chance.

Now the 3 engines are eSpotting, GoTo and Mirago- welcome to paid for hell.

For the surfers too! It is quite easy to snag two of the four directhit places and then buy the top spot in the other three PPC listings, 5 out of 7. That is crazy and does not bode well for the long term future of ask.co.uk imo.

I feel Mr & Mrs average surfer will probably not be aware that the site is paying the search engine to rank it at number 1. As most people I'm sure just click away, I've clients that have bids on the .com PPC SE's offering there services and clearly within the description is UK only but they still get enquires from around the world

Do they not have bathroom installers in europe/US ;)

and as for ask, it's never been top of my list of SE's

This just in from Mirago:

"MIRAGO EMBARKS ON NEW ADVERTISING CAMPAIGN

Look our for our ads in magazines such as PC Plus, .Net, PC Answers and The Net (to name but a few!) The campaign will run throughout the rest of the spring."

I also read that too, but let's face it how well do advertising campaigns work? and just how prolonged will they be? Let's face it with yahoo obviously investing a fortune in their hampster tv add campaign (very naff)& excites recent bus stop posters, what will they offer & where? Surely if they're trying to generate traffic & users to the site is pc mags the place to start!
