We have a client whose site has a .uk.com domain.

Before we advise him to shell-out the dosh for an express review, does anyone know whether Yahoo chokes on the 'uk.com' subdomain thingy?

I know they should do, but has anyone got any recent experience of success/failure?

Welcome to Webmaster World 4eyes.
Good question.
With Yahoo, as it is a directory, they are not really interested in the domain. More critical to getting into Yahoo is quality and uniqueness of content. Also I can't emphasise enough the importance of a good quality description upon submission. Spend time thinking carefully about your description and how it fits in the category.

When you are ready to submit the site to Yahoo, make sure you submit the site to the most appropriate category, and suggest other categories, if relevant, at the time of submission.

The editors need enough information to be able to identify where the site/business is located geographically and where it trades (UK, Europe or International). This helps them place it in the geographic caregory.

>quality and uniqueness of content.

I've just been checking some rankings and was amazed to see just how awful some of the site's that are in yahoo, I always warn my clients when submitting to yahoo that the sites could get rejected, but so far todate none have been(touch wood, that is if any exist in a modern desk), has anyone had a site rejected using biz express ?

my only battle with them has normally been around either site description or placement, I currently have one where the client used a brand name within the description which yahoo then edited it out, saying they will not allow brand names within the site description, I've sent various e-mails to them asking them to review this as if a search is done there are other sites within the category with this brand name in it, the battle continues..........

Tigger, you should not go wrong if you ensure the site is not just another website. It means you have good reason to support a claim if the site is rejected.
You are right, there are a lot of sites in there that are not up to much, but, many may have been in these since the early days.

It is understandable that the Yahoo editors do want to raise the bar.

You are right to provide the clients with that warning, just in case.

Good luck with the brand name issue - keep us informed.
