I wonder what has happened with AJ.co.uk. We are suddenly on a few domains getting referrals like crazy out of them. They are coming mainly from Yahoo/Google results.

Are they pumping Yahoo results more over there now? Or is this an effect of the last/current Google update?

In the past, we've always milked a few out of Espotting and Mirago through AJ, but nothing like this (about 400 referrals today to one domain and 200 to another). Real broad based keyword sets too - not an allstar page in the bunch.

AJ removed all the big engines sometime back and I think it hurt them. Now some are back, that's driving traffic.
I know I stopped using aj when the dropped av, etc.

Now they are back with Yahoo, Mirago, Espotting, and GoTo results. Espotting and GoTo appear when there is a paid listing, otherwise they don't show up.

Yahoo's results seem split between the directory and web results. I think you'll know what i mean when I say, searching at Yahoo used to show up all the results in the categories, then there is the option to select web pages.

Looks like Yahoo are showing the top twenty directory results AND the Google listings beneath, on one page. You don't need to exhaust the directory listings to see web results.

Yoinks,

When did Yahoo results supplant AV UK results in Ask?

Best I can tell from logs is that it has happened in the last two weeks.

Av referrals through Ask were a major source.

Vis, I can't remember exactly when they stopped using AV, but, I thought it was some time back. By that, i mean many months. I don't frequent AJ as much as I used to.

Ask was certainly giving AV UK results in the first couple of weeks this month.

A shame because it was one of the top referrers for a couple of 'lifestyle' sites.

For this reason I had kept an eye on Ask and I'm pretty sure that what Brett is seeing is the introduction of Yahoo (global) results instead of AVUK (localised).

Unless it is a one-off, Yahoo is no longer served up by ask.co.uk
