Message Too Old, No Replies

Anyone tried getting into the Lycos.co.uk directory lately?

It doesn't work

I've just submitted 2 sites to the directory. It appeared to go smoothly - not long after 2 emails returned -

"no such mailbox here by that name...
jemcook@btconnect.com # the old one jcook@lycos-europe.com"

It presumably went to Germany....

"received by fe26.lycos.de"

I submitted 3 sites on the 1st March and submission worked OK. Maybe the e-mail goes to the individual editor of a category and that failed. I have noticed that Lycos UK is now uk.lycos.de instead of uk.lycos.com - that is fairly recent.

Good point, they were both the same cat, another that worked (hopefully) was a different one.

Does anyone know if you can re-submit to Lycos UK directory. I have submitted some sites that got on straight away and others that have not got indexed.
I know it is down to the individual editors but has anyone got listed on a re-submit.

"The original message was received at Sat, 17 Mar 2001 etc....
<<< 551 Sorry, no such mailbox here by that name.
550 jemcook@btconnect.com # the old one - jcook@lycos-europe.com... User unknown etc...."
Any suggestions on how to get submission through this category? Second time we've had this result in 4 weeks.

I tried again this morning in the next category up, giving jem and 2 other editors - same again - jemcook not known.

Try writing to webmaster@lycos.co.uk

I have just done so again. If enough people write, s/he might notice!

lloyd, I've never had to resubmit, however, if you leave a reasonable time (a few weeks) between first and second submission it should be ok.

FreeBee - you could try one of the higher categories. I was just checking the site and noticed some errors coming up when I hit the submit button. Strange.

Perhaps someone with a site to submit to them might test it and come back and let us know if they get the same problems.

Lycos, not is it unbelievably slow the categories seem to be all over the place.

For example some of the business categories are extremely difficult to find or totally disappeared. I have tried to re-submit and can no longer find the categories by following the strings from the homepage. Some categories can only be found via a category search. This is mad.

The problem here is because you have to search through the categories search facility and not follow the strings from the home page, have Lycos stopped submission in the categories previously used.

Like oldtimer I to get the e-mail returns.

And finally what has happened to all the dogs (highly recommended). I used to have loads but none now. I noted one on the Figleaves site. This is a very large company/site. Are they paying now? I hope not!!!!

Following on from returned mail and submission failures over last few weeks:

1) Mailed webmaster@lycos.co.uk on 19 March - no response or acknowledgement as yet.

2) Have resubmitted to categories with jem and two others on 22 March - received the standard acknowledgement by e-mail but no mail failure since - so *maybe* things have worked this time around?

Anybody with other feedback?

I had no response either from any emails.

I've just tried the same category again and no returned emails. So perhaps at least they did read our complaints!

One site I submitted on 13th Feb is now in the directory.

A month down the line now, can anybody report on submission success?

On two occasions I found errors within the site - one very major design floor- someone seriously messed up nested tables. I kindly notified them - but no response, no thanks - shocking!

Anybody having progress on submissions here? We've had no luck since mid-February which may not be that long a cycle. At the same time however we've seen little change in a large category so suspect that others are having problems too.
