Moving my .ie to a US host

Will the .ie domain ensure it stays in the Irish searches?

Hi,

I've hosted an Irish site with a .ie extension for 6 months, with servers in London. The pages have been well indexed by the major engines, with Google.ie in particular. As the site is becoming popular I'll need to move to a dedicated server, and find that by far the best deals are available in the USA. What should I expect if I move server to America? Will the fact that it's the .ie tld ensure it stays in the right local engines?

Thanks in advance,

Don

The fact that it is .ie should help. If it was a .com it would be a bad move though. However Irish hosters are getting a bit more competitive on pricing. I'm not sure how the position in SERPs will change though with the site on a US server.

Thanks for the reply.

I also run a .com aimed at the UK but will be making it a 301 redirect to a .co.uk address when I make the move. As long as the TLD is considered when it comes to inclusion then I'll be happy.

You might want to read through some of these threads. [webmasterworld.com] Although they often refer to .co.uk, the rules apply.
