Hi there

Someone very kindly commented on my post here (url)http://www.webmasterworld.com/forum85/631.htm(/url)
which was done before I spotted this forum. Doh!

Has anyone ever heard of/used them? If so what number of visitors do you get etc? Can I also check your understanding of the difference between hits and visitors in case I've got it wrong

Cheers

Visitors is the number of visits to your site by discreet IP Connections - unique visitors which is the best measure of the amount of usage is the number of discreet IP addresses visiting the site.

Hits is the number of requests made of the site (it should be noted that one request is made for each image on a page, so an image heavy website can get a disproportionate number of hits for the number of people viewing).

Most professional advertisers and sellers of advertising space will quote unique visitors as a traffic measure.
