Hi,

I have noticed recently that a particluar company specialising in SEO has adopted a the technique of creating a "gateway" page between the listing and the intended destination page.

I have only been optimising for a year or so now and I am sure that this is illegal.

Please note that this is quite a large company that has been sold into this

Is it illegal?

What can I do about it?

Shak, the question was whether this was illegal on Google. I think you should have explained a bit further that while they will not throw you in prison they may throw your website into oblivion.

Remember that this is what they say in their quality guidelines ...

"Avoid "doorway" pages created just for search engines, or other "cookie cutter" approaches such as affiliate programs with little or no original content."

It is against the Google guidelines. If sites get caught doing this they will probably be banned.
