Which are the best UK search engines to get in?

Sorry, newbie question!

I've got a website that is targeted for a UK audience. I've used AdWords and Overture specifying a UK audience which has worked well... I'm interested in which paid-inclusing/free search engines I should try and get into that specifically have a UK audience. I get good results so far from google.co.uk...

I've been looking at Inktomi - but I get the impression that this will target more globally/US - am I wrong? What UK search engines get their results from Inktomi?

I'm interested in things like Freeserve, but from what I can see, the only way to get in there is by using Overture!

Thanks!

My money is on Inktomi which relies heavily on 'on page' optimisation. Yahoo will probably change from Google to using this index and Inktomi will therefore become a very important index again.

Submiting to inktomi is good for other search engines too, because it focuses you on the classic techniques for SEO.

Microsoft have also started sending out a bot and expect them to have their own index somtetime in the future so as sson as that one becomes more widely known, then pounce on that one!

Mirago is a small player, but I imagine results can be rewarding if you work out how to get to the top!

Hope this helps

This is a personal site, and all the views expressed are my own. None of the text here is intended as statement of fact, and should not be taken as such. When using this site you should exercise your own judement about the merits of each engine.

The charts are compiled using objectively gathered data, but are only intended as a rough guide, and should not be taken too literally.

doubted it very much when msn uk is listed below av uk and toxic lemon

The stats are based on unique users, rather than searches performed. However, the engines should be roughly in order, give or take a couple of places.

I've found BrowseIreland.com and IrishSites.com to be worth submitting too, especially if you need a couple of backlinks to your site. Both get very good traffic with very good demographics.
