Hi,

recently started looking after a lab of G5 power macs with tiger intalled, basically i want to lock down the workstation and prevent students from accessing certain porgrams - for instance let them access garageband but not itunes. This used to be easy although not alwaya full proof in panther but cant seem to find a way in tiger?

any help? used to be called user limitations?

You'll find what you are looking for under "Parental Controls" in the users accounts under ther preference panel. All the stuff you are used to is under Finder's parental control... However the "best" way to do this (if you have it) is set up users with X Server so that these preferences follow them no matter which computer they log into.

cool thanks, was really puzzlled for a momment or two!

Unfortunatly were running a server 2003 enviroment here and the macs do not have network access only internet access through the proxy.

Ive attempted to add the macs to the 2003 server active directory which i have done successfully. I can authenticate correctly but it maps the wrong folder to the desktop. I.e home folder is \\server\year7\$username$

but it only maps \\server\year7 so bit of a security issue!
