Is it my set-up?

My IE 5.1 keeps crashing on java applets, would this be due to a faulty set-up on the browser?

Hi glengara,

I the case it would be that any Java applet of any site is crashing IE, the first steps I would try is as follows :

Quit IE.
Go to Macintosh HD:System Folder:Preferences:Explorer and delete the Preferences file.
Highlight your IE icon, type command-I (or do command-R and then command-I if it is an alias).
On the popup menu, scroll down to Memory. You will see 3 boxes at bottom "Suggested size, Minimum Size and Preferred Size". Increase the memory allocation by at least 30% more than "Suggested size" in "Minimum Size" and by 100% than "Suggested size" in "Preferred Size".

In the case that only some applets on some sites is crashing IE, sorry to tell you that the list of unsupported Java features by IE for Mac is as long as my arm. Download Netscape 7. ;)
