FYI: Some of you using Apple Remote Desktop v2.1 may have already heard this other place, but I though I would post a warning here to.

Apple Remote Desktop v2.1 is not compatible with Tiger. v2.2 is supposed to fix that. I have not been able to figure out if Apple is going to be so kind as to offer an update that will fix the incompatibilitie or if they are going to make us go out and buy v2.2.

I read a few press releases talkign about v2.2 and it having compatiblility with Tiger. For whatever reason I glossed over the statement and did not realize they meant that v2.1 was not compatible with Tiger.

Should have looked before I lept. Now I can't see the machines I am suppsoed to be watching or manage the file server until they release v2.2. Guess I am going to load v2.1 it on my laptop in the mean time.

You know.. I never thought of these being compatible, and I will be getting the server edition loaded PDQ. I wonder, if the CLIENT can be on Tiger, being the Admin machine (mine) is 10.3 right now.... Hmm going to have to research, as the server is headless... Appreciate the heads-up..

The update came out the following day. Everything seems to be running fine again.

One of the machines I have is running OS X Server 10.3. Apple Remote Desktop v2.2 seems be be controling it without any issues. I will warn you that as of yet I have only tried controling the iTunes that is on the server.

If you are wondering why iTunes, we use the server to run the music in our showroom through AirTunes since it is the only machine that a person is not sitting in front of, amongst its normal duties as a server.

That's a nice side use for a server machine. I'll have to recommend that for our voice mail 'on-hold' music. Thanks for the idea. :)

Sure thing. Works great. Especially using Smart lists. Now if someone would make a plugin to auto fill the beats perminute.
