hi, I work as an IT technician in a UK school we have just recieved around 50 Power Macs (top of the range) and i was wondering wether there is a utility for "imaging" the hard drivesof one and transfering this to others either via CD or other means? I use Ghost for PC wonder if theres a similar program for macs?

Also.........

I have an Ibook and ive been lent a Emac with loads fo software on it, is there anyway to copy software from one Mac to another, for instance take garage band from the emac and put it on my ibook without the installation cd?

Any help is appreciated!

1) See if "Carbon Copy Cloner" will do what you want.

2) You should be able to copy apps from one to the other via Ethernet or via FireWire Target mode. Look on Apple's site for details...too complicated for me to explain here. (NB: The legal way to load software onto a machine is to install it from a CD with its own license.)

Look into Remote desktop. This item allows you to install applications and chage settings on multiple machines simultaneously. Also this gives you the option to be able to monitor your network more closely.
