Uninstalled Firefox after it started playing up. Having done that I don't appear to be able to download it again.

Sent Firefox app to Trash and likewise deleted from ~/Library/Application Support/Firefox.

On clicking download at Mozilla, the next page starts to load for a couple of seconds then it jumps back to the previous one. I've tried this with Safari and IE, but to no avail.

Strangely the exact same thing happend just yesterday, with Firefox, in trying to download something else. However, whilst I couldn't download with Firefox nor Safari in this instance, I could with IE. Odd!

Anything I should be doing in order to get Firefox back?

Syzygy, this seems fairly odd to me and to be quite honest, I don't even know what to think... I feel funny asking you this, since I just asked someone else for a different problem, but have you tried creating a new user and logging as that different user and seeing if it happens there too? This will differentiate whether it's a 'user based' (Not meaning you, rather meaning the user account) or 'system based' problem. Try this and see if the problem still occurs.

If it ok for the other user, but the problem still persists for you, I'd try dumping all cache for all browsers & mail programs, and possibly deleting the preferences file for the browser(s) in question. Without know whether it occurs for all users, or just that one, I don't really know what else to say... Try it, and let's see what happens ;0)

There could be a conflict with an old file - did you search and delete all system files related to FF?

There was/is still a Mozilla folder; in HD > library, but "...cannot be moved to the trash because it cannot be deleted." All other Mozilla/Firefox files were already moved to trash.

However, logged on as a new user and downloaded Firefox once again. Thanks.

Don't seem to be able to add it to applications though, so it's sitting in 'shared'. I'm presuming that I will just have to make do with this.

How can I import faves from Safari back in? Clicking 'import' in FF doesn't do anything...

If you are not able to trash that file from your adminitrative account, and you can't move something into the Applications folder, it sounds like you may need to repair your permissions.

I'd maybe try running Disk Utility and verify Disk Permissions and Reapir them if necessary. Being told you can't move something to the trash is a clssic sign of goofed-up permissions.

Thanks Zak, I do repair permissions at regular intervals - will give it another run-through though.

Much appreciated.
