Safari is my main browser, so please help

The first is that the article you quoted said vertical centering was flaky across all browsers, and only worked in certain cases.
Based merely on that warning, I'd not be surprised if it failed on certain browsers.
The second is that you say that it's important it works in Safari because that's *your* browser. Surely it's more important that it works in your visitors' browsers?
If you Google for CSS Safari Apple you'll find a list of which parts of CSS are supported (or not supported) by Safari.
Hardly much help I know!
