Previewing site on a Windows PC

Can I show the view from a Mac as well?

I'm working on a site which I think doesn't work well in a Mac, but I don't have a permanent Mac to test it on.

Is there a virtual Mac emulator for Windows? I can't seem to find one.

How about the inverse? I build and test on a mac but can't see how things work on a Windows PC.

You can use Virtual PC 6 for G4 macs and Virtual PC 7 for any mac, including G5's, to see how things look in Windows.

My 12" powerbook runs Virtual PC with Windows XP Home and Internet Explorer 6, 5.5, and 5 for testing. (I can even print from inside Windows XP to the same printers available to the mac OS.)

If you have an old Windows PC laying around, you can also try using Remote Desktop by Microsoft [microsoft.com].

There's not really a great replacement for having both platforms available, but here are a few tips for making your lives easier:

Firefox works basically the same across platforms, so test sites with that.

Standard, valid code works better across browsers, so validate your code, for example at [validator.w3.org ]

Minimize use of JavaScript. Especially eschew non-standard JavaScript functions.
