My keyboard doesn't have a # symbol. I am using the standard mac keyboard you get with a g4. Is there a shortcut to this symbol? or am I losing it?
I'm writing this on windows kit ;)

My Macs use keycap - 3, just like Frankenstein (my windows box).
Wich keybord is selected in your keyboard menu?

Option 3? Mine is Shift-3... Are you using a non-US keyboard?
My Mac keyboard is almost identical to a Windows keyboard (both US layout), except for the alt/command/option keys. But when I was in the UK, I noticed the double-quote, @ and (obviously) the $ key were all different.

Oops! It's what I meant by keycap, sorry.

definitely option 3 on UK keyboard.
Keycap/shift+3 converts to a £ symbol. There is no visible # anywhere which is just one of those Mac oddities I guess.

Well, US Mac keyboards have no visible £ symbol. Our 3 key shows the # sign (shift-3), but option-3 prints the £ symbol. :)

I've got another...
How would I write an acute accented e: é. I'd use the AltGr+e but there isn't one?!?

option-e, then hit e
You can actually use option-e, then any accentable character.

Joy :)
I worked out from Kep Kaps that an accent was option e, but couldn't get the two to coincide
