Got this message in an email from a free email account I have. Coincidentally, a pop up is now coming up on a site I'd built when users click on a link.
Suggestions for getting rid of the supposed trojan, tracking down where the pop up originated, and preventing them both in the future?
Thanks
your computer had been compromised and now contains a trojan proxy server.
this is a common bit of nonsense directed at Windows users, it was probably auto-generated by someone's infected computer and it sent you that email randomly.
Since you posted this in a Mac forum, I am assuming that you are using a Mac. If that is true, then this email not only doesn't apply to you, it won't affect you if you opened the attached file.
if some users are seeing Popups on a site you made, chances are better that THEIR computers have some sort of spyware or adware on them that is causing the PopUp ad to appear and it is NOT your website.
Was wondering about that since they weren't showing up on my screen. thanks microcars
