I am running a G5 Dual 2G with 2G of RAM. The main site for our company has grown to 4000 static pages. Doing template updates has become a nightmare and our dynamic system will not be ready for another 6 months. Would adding more RAM speed up the time it takes to do updates through DW MX 2004?

I have the same computer with the same RAM as you and it's not going to make much of a difference. (We put all the RAM from one of our other dual G5's in mine one day to test -- total of 4 gigs.) My only recommendation is to make sure you are running the most current version of DW. (The last update increased speed _by my perception_ about 50% faster for large template updates.)

Other than that, get out of the habit of changing templates all the time, don't use nested templates, and learn to group updates to be done over the weekend or through the night.

Other speed increasing tips that have worked for me include disabling "Design Notes" and using Transmit for mass uploads. I also use BBEdit for site wide text and replace when it's an element inside an editable region.

Interesting. Thanks for the tips.
