Changing the 'short name' in user profile

I have inherited a G4 - the previous owners shortname remains as the admin profile. I have no idea how to change the name from the existing name (fiona is a nice name but doesn't really suit me ;)) to my own. I have changed all the other settings including passwords, names and keychain but the short name remains uneditable? Using OSX 10.2.1

Go into Apple Help (command +?) and search for "change the short name of a user account". Basically, you have to create a new account then delete the old one (see "Deleting a user account").

I tried that, however the user I want to delete is the main admin and would not allow me to delete the existing account.

Of course I was not thinking logially enough - I was still logged in! So I logged out, logged in as the new admin and "roberts your fathers brother" :)
