"I have noticed that if a CD is burned using "multisession", macs sometimes cannot read the files, so plug it back into a pc and opt for "finalize CD". "-PatrickDeese

"I'd bet the problem is with the hardware. Either the mac's CD drive is getting persnickety, or the CD has a slight flaw. (Or both.) -"timster

This is a copy of postings from an old thread that I couldn't reply to. I have the same problem. I burnt a session of Jpegs for friends- they then had a PC session of jpegs added to it which we can't read on a Mac. Toast can see the second session but it won't mount. Patrick is probably on the right track and i will try to finalise on a PC tomorrow to see. PCs do multisession differently to Macs - I have tried on good CDs and it still doesn't come up

Multisession CDs, if I am not mistaken, are burned in UDF format, which Mac (inexplicably) does not read natively. There are free system plug-ins for OS9 that will fix it, but I haven't found a free fix for OSX yet. :(

(This is a major hassle for me, as my Sony digital camera burns onto CD in OSX format... I have to import the images directly from the camera instead.)

ReadDVD will let you read UDF 2.0 disks in Mac OS X. It's not free, but at $25, it won't break the bank, either.

Just a point of order, Mac OS X.3 does support UDF up to 1.5, just not 2.0 or higher. If a CD just has a bunch of JPG files on it, it's not great to use UDF 2.0, as many computers (PC's and Mac's) won't be able to read the CD.
